Welcome! Greetings! Happy Summer 2010! It's been awhile since real words have hit this page. Sometimes words are not enough, sometimes words should not or cannot be said or expressed. Music and Art, as all things creative and fulfilling are hard worlds to tread. It can break your heart, Its supposed to! Life passes, the grind moves on and forces of nature continue. Is anyone really in control? can anyone predict anything? Life teaches us all lessons, good, bad and indifferent. We are luck enough to be on earth for an undetermined amount of time, some things in life are precious family and loved ones, friends and things that make you happy. For me to make music with friends, partners and people I respect is everything. Again its not all there is, and in the grand scheme of things it may very well be insignificant, but creating and playing with my band has always been up there for me. Anyone can quit, the world is full of quitters. It is very easy to walk away from things when things don't go your way. Sometimes your brain tells you to quit, thank god the heart can provide balance to ones self and push you in other directions. Once you quit it gets easier to walk away from things. I am not a quitter! Bad Karma has been around since 1997, we have played a lot of shows, had some great times, some bad times, made some great friends, made some enemies. All fair in rock and roll! I started this band from the ashes of Blacksmith and Freaknation, to me its all the same band. I take it personal, I fight and play hard in everything I do, I look at my band as family and have my peoples back. I look at it with a gang mentality, always have. Might be from lack of any real family as a kid, but it is the way I have always operated. I started this band with different guys and find myself with others some 12 years later. Thankfully I found a guy like John Dodge, I love this guy like a brother ( and consider him as such on every level) making music with John is great and we are mentally connected in our playing and singing. I really don't want to play with anyone else, in regard to what he brings to my concept of a rock band. He and I don't always see eye to eye, and we disagree a lot, but he and I have stuck together through a lot and I am truly thankful for that. John has taught me a lot in terms of growing up, maturity, being a man, and sometimes shutting up, and what not to say by learning when not to speak and letting actions speak for you. We have had some bad luck with drummers over the years coming and going, but John and I have stuck together and gotten stronger throughout. Skip Granato, George Snyder, Mike Craig have all been good soldiers, great guys and true brothers, and I understand things change and life's balance and needs shift, all good. I love those guys and will always be part of this band. I love Johnny Bingo the first bass man in Bad Karma, unbelievable talent, charisma and heart! Met this guy at a Kiss concert in the late 70's in New York City, he taught me my first songs on guitar, funny mother fucker,I love this guy. I appreciate the others who have passed through as well, maybe not catching the vibe and the way John and I do things, its cool and I have indeed learned a thing or two along the way from all. It makes me stronger and understand who I am and what I need to do. Now this sounds like an obituary, it is not, far from it. I guess this is more or less a renewed Mission Statement of Bad Karma, and just something I needed to put down on paper, if more for myself than anything. If anyone is interested cool, If not this if for my own head and my band members and especially John Dodge to see. John and I made a decision late last year to re-tool, re-focus , relax, be friends ( I think) and move forward with Bad Karma and making things better for ourselves. Jimmy Albertin came on board with us as our drummer in late 2009. Jimmy brings a lot of good things to this band, he is a great drummer and a good guy. Jim has helped us heal, move forward and re-focus, laugh a lot and try and have fun again. We love his playing and he brings much to Bad Karma, I hope he is happy here and wants to stay a long time! As mentioned John and I were looking for something to change a little, make us better, bring something new into the same old, same old. We found that in a really talented and good man T.D. King. T.D. plays a killer guitar, a great keyboard, sings up a storm and has much experience. Most importantly he is a good dude and has a fantastic sense of humor. He is just what Bad Karma needed and I am very happy to have found him. T.D. brings so much to our sound and add something special to the mix. John and I couldn't be happier to the additions of T.D. and Jim! We have found a renewed excitement in playing music especially our own originals. We have developed a good band sound and synergy together in a relatively short timeframe. You will be hearing original sets from Bad Karma as well as killer covers and all that stuff. The Bad Karma name is going to be coming at you more and more and we look forward to seeing old friends and new faces again. It is always our pleasure to play for the people and put on a rock show for all. We are talking about an all original cd in the future and maybe even a live recording at some point. I think this could be the best Bad Karma line up yet! Please stay tuned and keep an eye on us! We are playing Savahannas in albany later in June with an all original show. We are playing this weekend 5/29 at the Washington county fairground playing the Saturday for a big custom Van show. All kinds of attractions and fun at this event, would love to see you out! Bad Karma will be playing the Laconia Bike Week event this year as well June 17, 18 and 19. This is our 9 or 10th year playing at the Naswa Resort at Weirs Beach for the New Hampshire Bike Week event, we love this place and the people, we cant wait and I am looking forward to John and I hitting the boards with Jimmy and T.D. We have booked a show at Nick's in Watervliet, NY for early July, new dates will be added and Bad Karma keeps rolling! Thanks to all our friends, fans and especially our families, who put up with us and let us do what we do! I want to thank personally my family and also my partner John, Holly and his family. Please contact us on this site, we would love to hear from you all. I am sorry I have not written in some time, that will change. New photos, music, vibe and energy to come. Thanks to all our people you know who you are!!! Bad Karma is alive and well and look forward to fun, gigs and making music! David S. Bad Karma May 2010
